July was another meaningful month at White Whiskers Senior Dog Sanctuary, filled with new beginnings, difficult goodbyes, and countless reminders of why our mission matters. We welcomed three new senior residents into our care. A bonded pair, Dimitre and Kaley, along with sweet Matty the Chihuahua. While we had hoped to give Matty many happy days at the sanctuary, his health declined rapidly due to a large mass, and we made the heartbreaking decision to help him cross the Rainbow Bridge surrounded by love and compassion. Though his time with us was far too short, we are grateful he knew kindness, comfort, and a family that cared deeply for him.

As we move into August, our hearts are full of hope. We have already welcomed two more senior dogs, Coffee and Bella, and we currently have several residents, Kira, Lucky, Max, and Hershey in trial adoption homes. Seeing so many of our seniors getting the opportunity to find loving forever families is incredibly rewarding. This is exactly why White Whiskers exists: to provide senior dogs with a safe place to land while helping them find the homes they deserve. We are keeping our fingers crossed that these trials become happily-ever-afters.

Behind the scenes, July was also a month of growth and community. We were thrilled to welcome two new groups of dedicated volunteers, host a dog walking training class to help our volunteers continue providing the best possible care, and represented White Whiskers at several fundraising events throughout the community. Every new volunteer, every supporter we meet, and every dollar raised helps ensure we can continue saying “yes” to senior dogs in need.
As always, thank you to our volunteers, donors, adopters, and supporters for making this mission possible. Whether you’re walking a dog, attending an event, sharing our posts, or opening your home to a senior, you are changing lives every single day. We are so grateful to have you as part of the White Whiskers family.
Later this month, our Volunteer Coordinator, Bailey, will be starting her maternity leave and welcoming a new baby into her family! We wish her and her growing family all the best during this special time.
One of the many things that makes White Whiskers so special is our incredible volunteer family. Several of our dedicated volunteers have generously stepped up to help cover Bailey’s responsibilities while she is away, and we couldn’t be more grateful for their support. Their willingness to jump in wherever needed is a true reflection of the compassionate community that keeps our mission moving forward.
While Bailey is on leave, our monthly newsletters will be on pause and will return in November, so don’t worry if you don’t see one in September or October! You didn’t miss anything. Volunteer orientations will also be temporarily paused during this time. If you’re interested in becoming a White Whiskers volunteer, please keep an eye on our website for upcoming orientation dates, which we anticipate resuming in late November.
Thank you for your understanding, your flexibility, and your continued support of White Whiskers Senior Dog Sanctuary.
