April was a meaningful and community-filled month here at White Whiskers Senior Dog Sanctuary. We were honored to take part in forming a Veterans’ Suicide Prevention Coalition, working alongside the VA teams in both Buffalo and Batavia to support those who have served our country.

We also had the pleasure of welcoming some incredible organizations to the sanctuary.

Kaely’s Kindness Foundation visited us, sharing their mission of providing resources and support for teenage girls living with cancer. Their compassion and dedication left a lasting impression on our team.

In addition, we were delighted to host Harrison’s Playmakers, a nonprofit organization committed to coaching and mentoring children facing social, physical, and economic challenges. Their visit brought energy, positivity, and a shared spirit of giving that aligns deeply with our own mission.

Moments like these remind us how powerful community connections can be, not just for our senior dogs, but for everyone involved. We’re grateful to all who spent time with us this month and look forward to continuing these meaningful partnerships.

Meet Willy – A Beagle In Need Of A Home

The Gentle Soul You’ve Been Waiting For 🐾

Willy is the kind of dog that quietly steals your heart.

This sweet senior Beagle may surprise you, he’s not your typical loud, howling hound. In fact, Willy is wonderfully calm and quiet, only finding his voice at certain moments. The rest of the time, he’s content simply being near his people. And what a companion he is.

Willy is one of the gentlest, most loving dogs you’ll ever meet. He loves affection, hugs, soft praise, and being told he’s a good boy absolutely lights him up. He’s sensitive in the most tender way, and it’s clear he hasn’t always known kindness. Because of that, he thrives in a calm, patient home where love is shown gently.

Despite his senior status, Willy still has a great balance of energy. He’ll happily join you for a long walk or hike, then come home and snooze peacefully for hours. He’s also potty trained and does best when kept on a consistent schedule (as most older dogs do).

Willy would do best in a cat-free home, or one with a very dog-savvy cat who knows how to keep their distance. He hasn’t shown aggression, but he is very fixated on cats and does best without the temptation.

He could thrive in a variety of homes, a family with respectful older kids, a calm dog companion, or even a single person or couple ready to give him the attention and love he deserves.

Willy does have allergies that require ongoing care, including medication and regular medicated baths. His future family will need to be committed to managing this so he can stay happy and comfortable.

At the end of the day, Willy isn’t asking for much, just a soft place to land, a gentle hand, and someone to remind him every day that he’s safe and loved.
